Breaking NEWS

A farmer decides to commit suicide and all the NEWS channel camp to capture his every action and broadcast it to the whole world. A robot rescues a nude girl who was bathing from a building caught on fire was captured on camera for circulation around the world. Familiar with these scenes?  You should be if you had chances to watch films like “PEEPLI LIVE” and “ENDHIRAN”. Do director’s include these kinds of scenes to move their story forward or are they sarcastic of today’s media, I strongly believe it is the later.
Why shouldn’t they be of the fourth pillar of democracy? It is there for everybody to see. Let’s face the reality, they are here to just make money and money comes only if they get good TRP (Television Rating Point) which is the criterion that indicates the popularity of a channel. Today which ever NEWS channel you tune to we would see breaking news presented in their own version even if they don’t have enough details about them, then for some days we are updated with information that the budding journalist   gather from various sources without even authenticating it. Then we get to see reputed journalist interviewing and conducting show with the people involved in the making of this news giving us big picture. This week long activity of particular news awakens the people who march with candles in their hand as protest. With the advent of social networking sites people discuss it on net even going to the length of creating hate pages.  All this flow of event makes the authorities to announce some action. Then there is yet another News breaks in some other part of the country to which people get hooked to thanks to these NEWS channels. This is what happening today. People are not interested in beating news to death, in seeing if the affected people are compensated properly.
Why are the NEWS channel functioning the way they are, are there people getting benefit out of this show? let’s see, Politicians would top the list I guess, journos never forget to get their views there by giving them instant recall values among the people which otherwise would require lot of visit to their constituency , spending the fund they get, now they can turn a blind eye until the next campaign time and pocket the money they get. Film stars, industrialist, so called social workers get their due publicity just by hoping from one channel to another. Corporate too are benefitted by getting air time and also sponsoring award nights like “INDIAN of the year” at rates which is lower when compared to entertained channels. Talking about the entertained channel they too have turned smart and now market their shows in the NEWS channel to a wider audience.
Yes agreed that these channels need money to run the show but then how much and should they comprise on the quality of news they provide. I strongly believe if the quality of content is good you will still get money to run the show.

Flies Don't like KALAN!!

Flies don't like the taste of Kalan. For those of you who don't know what kalan is, let me explain -Kalan is a dish famous in Kerala which is prepared using curd and yam and pepper being used to make it spicy.

We had rice, kalan, cabbage curry, payasam! (Oh nothing special we had lot of jaggery which lying unused for a month or two), buttermilk, papad and mango pickle for lunch some day in the bygone week. I had kept the dishes covered with plates except kalan. When I was about to start my lunch this unwelcome guest came from no where and started flying over all the bowls except the bowl which had Kalan. I tried to shoo it away however it kept changing its place from one bowl to the other and disturbing my lunch. It took me a while to realise that this bloody fly was not interested in kalan.

That created a doubt in me: Is it that flies don't like food spicy, but then I saw it sitting on the bowl which had pickles ....so that could not be the reason?.If you were thinking that the dish was not tastable could be the reason then let me tell you ,acchan is an expert cook for which many would vouch  and the dish was made tasty , i can't come up with any reason, Can you ? Till then I will presume that   "FLIES DON'T LIKE KALAN'

Eureka!! I found a way to have a peaceful meal without being troubled by these dirty flies. Hey you people too try it at home, prepare kalan in large quantity which would last for a week even when eaten thrice a day. Believe me the flies will never ever come back after being disappointed for week seeing this kalan. I am going to try it at home and once it is successful I will submit a thesis and get a patent for it.......

Desi Mr.Bean

Many of the movies, teleserial or reality shows that have captured the audience attention here are adaption of successful plot from the west. Film makers rework this to suit the taste of desi audience and deliver hits.

Mr. Bean a British comedy television series telecasted in the pogo channel has entertained the urban class, can be adapted to our regional languages for entertaining the rural audience and I am sure that it would be a money spinner. Any filmmaker who have plans and are looking for ideal person to play the lead character can approach me, hmmm... I may be interested if the package is good!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Rowan Atkinson for scripting and playing the lead role in Mr. Bean because of which I have become a sort of local celebrity and I don't mind cashing in on it. People in and around my locality say that I bear a resemblance to him, I also have got lift to home from an elderly man as I have looks similar to him. I am not kidding it happened……

Once returning to my home from office by train I saw an elderly man frequently turning back and gaze at me which I didn't mind. It continued until the chromepet station where both got down, from later conversation with him I came to know that he too is a resident of chromepet came to me and shook hands and  said that I remind him of Mr. Bean and many kids would like me and I could entertain them just like Rowan Atkinson. I just gave him a smile and walked away.

Since it was a hot afternoon I decided to take bus to my nearby bus stand from the railway station and I was waiting for the bus. The same elderly man who passed me in bike stopped and asked where I was going and offered to drop me. I gladly accepted it. On route he said that he and his grandchildren really enjoy Mr. Bean’s wits despite seeing it several times the same episodes.

So scriptwriter go ahead and rework the script, director get ready to roll the show and producer sir let’s sit and discuss our remuneration sipping a glass of apple juice and let the audience enjoy the Desi Mr. Bean show.......

Broken Mirror

Relationship are like mirror, once broken cannot be mended. One such relation had cost India gold at the just concluded CWG at Delhi in which our countries sportsperson had put a valiant effort and bagged 38 gold medal to finish second in the medal tally.

The duo of Leander paes and Mahesh bhupathi who are double Asian games gold medalist and winners of many a grand slams and numerous ATP titles are the talking point of this write-up.Tennis which was included for the first time in the CWG was a discipline where India was expected to sweep all the medals at stake but despondently they could only finish with one gold , one silver and two bronze medals.

Leander who partnered Mahesh in men's doubles and Sania in the mixed doubles was expected to clinch nothing short of two golds could only win one bronze with mahesh at the expense of another Indian pair .If you had chance to watch their matches in this event you would certainly agree with me that there was lack of coordination among them which is due to their lack of practice together, which naturally makes us question their commitment to the nation !

The duo have many a times bailed out India from losses in the Davis cup ties ,the most recent being their important victory against the visiting Brazilian team which enabled us to qualify for the world group tie.So isn't it unfair to question them ?But the news of they skipping the Asian games to defend their gold medal and rather concentrating on the season ending master's tournament would even infuriate their hard core fans too and surely raise an iota of doubt in our mind about their commitment.

The Indian Express started playing together as a pair in the year 1996 and after initial struggle they started creating magic with their passionate play.In the year 1999 we saw this duo progress to the finals of all the 4 grand slams winning the Wimbledon and French open.Leander too achieved the number one ranking in that same year.Newspapers were splashed with their winning stories. Then all of a sudden everything started falling apart. There was ego clashes and soon they decided to end their pairing. It came as a jolt to all the Indian fans who never expected this express to derail, rather all of us expected them to bring more and more accolades.

Rivalry replaced camaraderie both on and off the field as both competed to win titles one more than the other and took their opportunity to belittle the other.Leander during the Qatar Asian games questioned the commitment of Mahesh; who on his part orchestrated revolt of Davis cup players against Leander's leadership.

Frequent news about their Petty fights pained the general public of India and we became laughing stock to the world when this pairing couldn't win any medals at Olympics in their three attempts.Time has come for the Indian Tennis Federation who had been silent spectator to this whole controversy to act and find suitable replacement for this pairing to represent our country in major events.Rohan boppana who has started playing well consistently in the ATP circuit is the best alternate available, finding him a partner should be the priority for the federation now if they nurture any hope of bagging medals.

Derailing of this Indian express should be taken as a case study to current and future generation and each of us should set aside any egos while representing the country ......
